Shanti Ashram

Mr. G. Vijayragavan led Shanti Ashram and the GNRC India partners to carry out campaign activities in relation to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (IDEP) Shanti Ashram launched media engagement, both mainstream and social media, as means to create awareness and mobilise advocacy engagement.

Through their early childhood education centres, Bala Shanti Kendras, Shanti Ashram mobilised pre-schoolers to take a pledge to help end child poverty. 28 children from the Bala Shanti were also able to collect 14.5 kilogrammes of rice, to be distributed to children affected by poverty in their neighbourhood. An estimated 15,867 children and youth were reached through 26 institutions – majority of these being schools  with the target reach being  50,000 children and youth from 17 states.

They also Organized “Marathon for Social Change”, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It attracted 4,680 participants, including youth and children, with the  focus being creation of  social awareness, particularly among the youth who also took a pledge to end child poverty and avoid social risk-behaviours that affect the young people.
