Shanti Ashram in India conducted various activities to commemorate the International Day of Eradication of Poverty( IDEP)the  activities conducted included;

  1. Pledging against Child Poverty; along with interfaith prayer simultaneously by 36,326 children from 32 institutions, and collection of food grains for the food bank which will in turn be utilized for the vulnerable children. Many Schools are coming forward to support the children affected by poverty. A total of 600 kg of food grains were collected including rice, sugar, wheat, barley and cereals- which is expected to benefit approximately 150 families.
  2.  Education on Sustainable Development: This was a one day event involving 30 Global Network of Religions for Children(GNRC) partner institutions throughout India. The opportunity was used to create awareness on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that impact on child poverty.
  3. Social Media Publicity: Various programs conducted, related to International Day for the Eradication of Poverty(IDEP) were published on social media  by all the partner institutions. A poster was circulated in the Social media, reaching numerous people. Also, a short video on IDEP pledge was shared on Facebook.
  4. Photography contest: GNRC organized a photography contest and with participation from volunteers and facilitators. One of the facilitators, Mr. Daniel Selvans from India submitted 9 of his photos in the contest.
