The Global Network of Religions for Children in Burundi celebrated the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2018 by organizing an event to provide information for girls who left their families and are working in the cities as house servants on the impact of poverty on children rights.
The discussions revolved around understanding the relationship between poverty and child abuse or the violation of children’s rights. Participants were able to understand that the fight against poverty is the main pillar to end the violence against children. Participants also shared their experiences especially the challenges they face daily working as house helps.
