Fine Arts and Literary works contest to raise awareness on Ending Child Poverty

In commemorating the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (IDEP), our partner, UZ Mozaik from Bosnia and Herzegovina raised awareness on ending child poverty through showcasing literary works and fine arts done by some 80 elementary school children in a contest dubbed: My contribution to poverty reduction.

23The children’s creative and aesthetic artistic works reflected the global IDEP theme: Acting together to empower children, their families and communities to end poverty. IDEP for them did not stop at showcasing the photos, they went a notch higher under the guidance of religious leaders and members of a women associations dubbed mosaic, they held a roundtable on the IDEP theme. The roundtable would enlighten the children on the need to extend an empathetic heart towards those living in poverty by sharing with them. To encourage them in this light, they were encouraged to always conform to religious teachings.

In regards to this, both the children, religious leaders and members of the women association led collection, purchase and distribution of foodstuffs to 18 poor families around them, in the area of Visoko in Bosnia. At Arigatou International – End Child Poverty, we always view IDEP as an opportunity for advocacy, awareness and taking action against poverty affecting children. Indeed, UZ Mozaik through these activities raised awareness and took action against child poverty, while remaining in line with the global IDEP theme.
