About IDEP

The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (IDEP) is a global awareness event celebrated every year on 17 October. It is an opportunity for reflection, advocacy and action to end child poverty and all other forms of poverty.

The Impact of Poverty on Children

3.4 million people, mostly children, die annually from water-related diseases.

3.1 million children die from undernutrition each year.

640 million children (1 in 3) live without adequate shelter.

270 million children (1 in 7) have no access to health services.

Worldwide, there are more than 150 million children, who do not have access to pre-primary education.
