Arigatou International – Nairobi will be hosting the 4th Regional Youth Forum (Youth In Action) on Peace Building from 19th – 23rd August, in Aberdare (Nyeri), Kenya. The forum will bring together some 34 leaders (20 – 34 years); from Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania; representing over 10 organizations.
This year’s Youth In Action focuses on “Leadership for Change”. This theme is inspired by the fact that having had this youth cohort for the last 3 years, it is time to equip the young leaders to gear up for their next level of leadership responsibility, as individuals and in the wider peace community. As youth leaders, they will also be called to mentor the next generation of youth to lead peace. The forum will also enable the youth look at how Freedom of Religion and Belief, Social Cohesion, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are all significant in tackling violent extremism; thus building Peace.
Youth In Action is the network of peace builders, comprising of youth and young influencers from 12 countries in the Horn and East Africa region. The network was established by Arigatou International—Nairobi in 2016, together with the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and other partners.
