Right to Peace
“Every child has the right to peace, a life free of violence and poverty.”
Arigatou International—End Child Poverty works to empower communities to transform violent conflicts and drivers of conflict that cause child poverty. This includes ending violence against children, preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE), and advancing Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and social cohesion.
This Right to Peace is described within global, regional and national frameworks, including the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Many faith beliefs, traditions and religions, uphold respect for the wellbeing and inherent dignity of the child.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provides a universal framework for ending poverty, through caring for people, our shared prosperity and planet, in peace and partnership. These make up the 5 P’s of the global goals.
Goal 16 of the SDGs calls for promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. Find our more about children and the SDGs.
Our Results
In the Global South mostly, child poverty can easily be attributed to the growing insecurity and conflicts. At End Child Poverty, we believe that peace is a prerequisite and a necessary condition for the redress of poverty. Our focus has majored on empowering communities to transform violent conflicts, as well as advancing Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) and Social Cohesion. We believe that building peaceful societies is one step closer to ending child poverty.
Realising this need, End Child Poverty initiated the Youth in Action network and the Regional Faith Leaders Forum (RFLF) under the Eastern Africa Regional Peace Programme (RPP) . Both platforms serve to amplify the voices of young people and faith leaders in promoting peace, preventing, transforming and countering violent extremism, and fostering promote social cohesion and FoRB.
