Strategically placed, well branded and fully equipped was the ‘nomad’ SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Academy for Children space at the GNRC Sixth forum in Abu Dhabi, between 19-21 November 20024.
Colorfully branded with child-friendly materials related to the SDGs, the Academy space was a cutting-edge exhibition space showcasing innovative ideas, immersive displays, and groundbreaking technologies, fostering connection, inspiration, and collaboration among children and attendees at the forum.
In droves and groups; children, faith leaders, young people among other attendees made their way to the SDGs Academy for Children, curios to learn more about it while at the same time amused by the interactive children’s exhibition space bursting with creativity, hands-on activities, and innovative displays designed to spark curiosity.
Visibility of the SDGs Academy fo Children did not stop at the ‘nomad’ Academy space at the front foyer of the main plenary ballroom of the forum. The Academy’s brochure distributed among participants of the forum generated more interest in the Academy, sparking more conversations and visits at the ‘nomad’ Academy space. Further, examples drawn from the work and impact of the Academy made strong reflections points during several plenary, panel and interpersonal discussions at the forum.
Playing a highlight video of the SDGs Academy for Children before a plenary audience of over 500 people at the end of the ‘All for Children’ plenary session was a major milestone towards promoting the Academy. With captivating and storytelling visuals accompanied by a clear narration about the Academy, the video provided a clear overview of the Academy and its impact since inception.
The presence of the SDGs Academy for Children at the GNCRC Sixth forum was conspicouos, creating a sense of interest, curiosity and imagination not only within the young minds but also other participants within the forum. The forum created a platform to globally promote the Academy aimed at creating more partnership within the Academy including establishment of more physical spaces of the Academy, with particular interest of having a space within the Middles East soon.
Currently, there are established 4 physical spaces of the Academy. In Limuru, Kenya, Colombo, Sri Lanka, Sombor, Serbia and Mae Sot, Thailand. The SDGs Academy for Children is an innovation space where children learn about sustainable development and focus their ideas for a better world on the principles of Sustainable Development and the SDGs. It was launched in November 2020 during Arigatou International’s Global Week of faith in action for Children.
