Promoting Child Welfare and Positive Parenting

End Child Poverty (ECP) partnered with World Day of Prayer and Action for Children (WDPAC), The Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), Chemichemi Ya Uzima clinic, Government officials from the birth registration department in Kenya and the Center for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) and facilitated a program to promote child welfare and positive parenting at the Soweto Baptist Primary school in Kibera slum, Nairobi Kenya on 23rd November, 2013.

The event increased awareness of faith-inspired resources available to address the rights of children, including child poverty, and strengthened networks between the faith communities and other stakeholders in addressing child poverty.

The latter was done in a bid to keep with the strategy of integrating and infusing theological reflections on child poverty in the agenda of the other initiatives of Arigatou International.CREAW and Chemichemi Ya Uzima developed a follow up strategy, which included petitioning the government to provide easier accessibility to birth registration for residents of Kibera slum – through a birth registration facility.
